Moncton has no gas price average of its own because New Brunswick regulates the price instead. Each Friday at 12:01 a.m. the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board sets one maximum for the whole province, so Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton share the same ceiling. The maximum in force since October 23, 2026 is 185.2¢/L for self-serve regular, 221.6¢/L for premium and 275.2¢/L for diesel, taxes included. A retailer may add a delivery charge of up to 4.75 cents, so the highest legal posted price for regular is 190.0¢/L, while a station may also sell below the cap. No reset falls on October 27, 2026, so tomorrow's estimate is the current cap; the next scheduled one is October 30, 2026. Tested on 25 months of Statistics Canada's Saint John series, the estimation method missed by 2.3¢/L on average. Of the regular cap, 18.9% is tax: 10.87 cents of provincial tax and 15% HST, the federal excise being suspended since April 20, 2026.
One ceiling for the whole province
New Brunswick is one of the provinces that regulates pump prices, and it does so with a single maximum for all of its territory. The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board publishes it every Friday. Moncton has no other official price: the figures below are those caps, taxes included, dated from the Friday they took effect.
| Fuel | Latest official figure | Date and source | Estimate for October 27, 2026 | Past error of the method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular gasoline | 185.2¢/L | maximum price in force since October 23, 2026 · New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board (province-wide) | 185.2¢/L | ±2.3¢ on average over 25 months ("no change" guess: ±6.4¢) |
| Premium gasoline | 221.6¢/L | maximum price in force since October 23, 2026 · New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board (province-wide) | 221.6¢/L | ±2.6¢ on average over 25 months ("no change" guess: ±6.6¢) |
| Diesel | 275.2¢/L | maximum price in force since October 23, 2026 · New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board (province-wide) | 275.2¢/L | ±4.8¢ on average over 25 months ("no change" guess: ±9.3¢) |
Because the number is a ceiling, it describes the most a station may charge, not what most stations charge. Statistics Canada's monthly average for Saint John, the closest measure of prices actually paid, was 192.5¢/L for September 2026, +7.3¢ from the cap now in force; the two cover different periods.
The delivery charge on top of the cap
New Brunswick's rules let a retailer add a delivery charge of up to 4.75 cents a litre to the regulated maximum. It does not have to be charged, and the Board's figure does not include it. That gives a range for this week in Moncton:
| Fuel | Maximum | With the full delivery charge | 55 L at the full ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | 185.2¢/L | 190.0¢/L | $104.47 |
| Premium | 221.6¢/L | 226.4¢/L | $124.49 |
| Diesel | 275.2¢/L | 280.0¢/L | $153.97 |
The fill-up calculator below takes the price on the sign, which already includes any delivery charge the station applies.

The weekly cycle
The Board sets the new maximums on Friday at 12:01 a.m. The current ones date from October 23, 2026, and the next scheduled change is on October 30, 2026. For October 27, 2026 there is no reset, so the estimate repeats the cap. Because each new ceiling follows the wholesale market of the previous days, the tomorrow page and the wholesale trend give a hint of the direction of the next one, but only the Board's publication fixes it.
The cap also moves with tax changes dated in advance. The return of the federal excise, at half rate on February 1, 2027 and in full on April 1, 2027 under Finance Canada's draft legislation (proposed, not enacted), would raise the ceiling itself, since the published maximum includes every tax, with HST at 15% charged on top of the excise.

Moncton against Halifax
Nova Scotia regulates too, by zone. The Halifax cap for regular is 185.3¢/L, which is +0.1¢ relative to New Brunswick's. The two provinces tax fuel differently, and the comparison is between ceilings, not averages. See the Halifax page, the St. John’s page and the provincial tax comparison.
